Melaleuca is a international environmentally friendly wellness company, headquartered in Idaho Falls, Idaho. It has quite a variety of products. I was surprised by the variety when I looked at their website

I began as a preferred customer. To become a preferred customer you commit to purchasing 35 points worth of products a month which you get discounts on. The worth of 35 points can vary some, depending on what you want to get month to month, but it can typically be around $80.00 which includes taxes and shipping.
In order to be a preferred customer, you usually are referred as such by another customer. You also have to pay for a yearly membership, I got mine for $1, which occasionally is offered. A regular membership is around $30.00 and at this point I am not sure what it cost to renew it.
When first signing up, every customer creates a back up order. This can be a nice feature for people who will be ordering the same thing month to month, especially because it will automatically be sent if an order isn't made for the month. At first I had a hard time coming up with my back up order of 35 points worth of product and had to change it several times. This is where looking at the pricing list might be helpful to give ideas for what someone might want for a back up order.

The first 6 months as a customer, customers are given $20.00s of free product. This is pretty nice. However, when I began I thought the free product was chosen from all products but it is only from certain products and it isn't always easy to use the whole $20.00 amount without going over or under.
Melaleuca also puts out some pretty good magizines customers can get. I think some of them come free when you start.
There are some other benefits of having a membership with Melaleuca that can be pretty nice. You can learn more about them by contacting Gayle at the link above called become a member. There is a presentation that explains in more detail the benefits, etc.
Preferred Customers can save money by agreeing to purchase a certain amount of points each month, and earn money by finding other customers (I think it's close to $5.00s per customer, and goes up the more customers there are -if I understand right). Melaleuca does not have physical stores to go to and shop at. All their products are only available at their website or by calling the company to place an order. This can be helpful, but also a pain at times. However, I was told that products can be sold individually by members of Melaleuca, but there are limits on how they can be advertized. For instances, a Mom and Baby Products business can sell individual Melalueca products to customers, as long as the Melalueca products aren't advertized on a website. The products could possibly be added to a kit or package of other non-melaleuca products to be sold with, to do this.

People can work for Melaleuca from home and earn money by basically becoming a recruiter for the area they live or telling people they know about it, but because it is an on-line and international store customers can be from anywhere. One can also become a local store in a sense.
Starting is pretty easy and simple if you can afford a preferred customer membership. It's nice that you don't have to have an inventory unless you want to. You just buy products you would use for yourself, and let other people know about them. If you know people that are interested in these kind of products and can afford them, that makes it even easier to be successful at making money. If people are already spending about the same amount of money each month on similar products that can be beneficial. If you own a business such as a daycare, Mom and Baby store, or a cleaning company, etc, to help cover your starting cost you might want to share your membership and monthly product purchase with co-workers or those you serve. If money is a problem, some people share the cost of purchasing products with family or friends. One can also become a local store in a way. This isn't a good fit for everyone but with creativity, the right people, places, and situations a person can really do well with Melalueca.
